Compassionate living is making cruelty-free choices that matter to some living being somewhere. Your choices and your wallet matter in a world where consumerism drives everything. The word "vegan-ism" denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practical — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment.
A Holocaust for Animals: The total number of land based animals killed for meat, eggs and milk in the U.S. this year will reach 10 billion. These farm animals are sentient, complex, and capable of feeling pain, frustration, joy, loneliness, boredom, and contentment. Ten billion individuals will spend their precious lives in the most horrific circumstances and die painful, terrifying deaths so humans can consume their flesh, eat their eggs, or drink their milk. All animals deserve humane treatment, including
those raised for food. Raise your consciousness and help stop this unspeakable suffering.
High Sierra Veggies & Vegans is a place where like minded people can find community together. Not only do we enjoy the empowerment and commeraderie of advocating for animals, we hold pot lucks and take road trips to Farm Sanctuary and other great places where animals are being helped. Here, no one scorns and mocks you for being a vegetarian or a vegan. Rather, you are cherished and helped along
the compassionate path.
With outreach such as community potlucks, leafletting and tabling at events and festivals, we educate the public and ease the suffering of millions in addition to greatly helping a planet in peril.

Feeding rescued factory farmed turkeys at Farm Sanctuary's "Celebration for the Turkeys", where visitors feed and celebrate turkeys at the annual Thanksgiving event in Orland, Calif. These girls have been detoed and debeaked as is common on factory farms.
Living a compassionate, healthy and conscious lifestyle in beautiful Lake Tahoe.
Isn't man an amazing animal? He kills wildlife by the millions in order to protect his domestic animals and their feed. Then he kills domestic animals by the billions and eats them. This in turn kills man by the millions, because eathing all those animals leads to degernerative - and fatal - health conditions like heart disease, kidney disease, and cancer. So then man tortures and kills millions more animals to look for cures for these diseases. Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals. Meanwhile, some people are dying of sad laughter at the absurdity of man, who kills so easily and violently, and once a year sends out cards praying for "Peace on Earth."
